• The University of South Australia (UniSA) has launched a new immersive teaching experience called "Medical Mayhem" that allows students to experience the chaos and challenges of a medical emergency. The simulation is designed to provide nursing and other health students with a realistic and high-pressure scenario to develop their critical thinking, decision-making, and teamwork skills in a safe environment.

• The Medical Mayhem simulation takes place in a replica of a hospital emergency department, complete with actors playing the roles of patients, family members, and other medical staff. Students must work together to triage patients, administer treatment, and manage the overall situation, all while dealing with unexpected events and distractions that add to the stress and complexity of the scenario.

• According to UniSA's Associate Professor Tracey Bucknall, the Medical Mayhem simulation is a valuable learning tool that helps prepare students for the realities of working in a healthcare setting. By exposing them to a high-stakes, high-pressure environment, the simulation allows students to practice their skills and develop the confidence and resilience needed to thrive in the medical field.
