Dear Editor,As outgoing RCP vice president for Wales, I read David's article with interest, and agree wholeheartedly with much of what he says. I cannot speak for the other devolved nations (although I know that Northern Ireland does have a 2018–2026 health and social care workforce strategy) but in Wales, there is a 10-year long term 2020–2030 health and social care workforce strategy (jointly owned by Health Education and Improvement Wales and Social Care Wales), a national NHS workforce implementation plan published earlier this year (owned by Welsh government), a social work workforce plan 2022–2025 (owned by Social Care Wales) and a forthcoming social care workforce delivery plan 2023–2026. There's still a great deal of work to be done on workforce data and long-term forecasting, but it's difficult to argue that there is no workforce plan at all
