10,000 Irish people call for synthetic pesticides to be phased out

More than 10,000 Irish people have signed a petition calling on the European Union to introduce laws to phase out damaging pesticides and to help create bee-friendly farming. In Ireland, there are around 100 different species of wild bees, including around 20 bumblebees species and 80 solitary bee species, and 180 species of hoverflies. Other insects such as moths, butterflies, ants and flies also contribute to pollination
