From Alto to Ethernet to 3ComIt was Bob Metcalfe, then a young networking expert straight out of graduate school at Harvard, who came up with the local-networking approach for the Altos that would eventually become critical in computer networking writ large. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Alto and of Ethernet, the museum will be releasing to the public a remarkable digital archive of the work at PARC from the 1970s to 1994
