A record number of women completed military service in Finland this year, according to the Finnish Defence Forces.Over 1,200 women started their voluntary military service this year, which is also the highest number in history, with a couple of hundred dropping out before they completed their service stints.A recent survey by the Uutissuomalainen newspaper group found that more than a third of people in Finland would support female conscription.Some 35 percent of the poll's respondents were in favour of extending military conscription to women.An Yle poll conducted in May also found that a third of Finnish MPs would back compulsory conscription for women."
