Zelenskyy administration to tap serving minister for China ambassador postThe Office of the President is preparing to appoint an ambassador to China (Photo:Office of the President of Ukraine)The President's Office will likely choose a serving minister as the new ambassador to China, Ukrainian journalist and editor-in-chief of the Glavcom information and analytical website, Viktor Shlinchak, said on Radio NV on Dec. 29."The Presidential Office is working on another political appointment,” Shlinchak said.Though the President’s Office pledged to do this last December.”There has been no Ukrainian ambassador to China since Feb. 14, 2021, the day the then-ambassador, Serhiy Kamyshev, died of a heart attack.Kamyshev headed the Ukrainian Embassy in Beijing from 2004 to 2009, and re-assumed his position in October 2019."Agreement was sent and, according to my information, it was received,” Shlinchak commenting, referring to China’s acquiescence to the Zelenskyy administration’s choice of a new ambassador."
